1. A grocery list
My mom and I are going to the supermarket.
This is our grocery list.
We have to buy these things:
- A loaf of bread
- 3 pieces of pie
- 6 rolls of toilet paper
- A dozen eggs
- 2 bottles of juice
- 3 bags of candy
- A jar of jam
- 6 cans of soup
- A carton of milk
- 2 bars of chocolate
2. Trees
Chris likes trees a lot!
In spring, he plants new trees.
In summer, he collects green leaves.
He makes a Tarzan skirt with them.
In fall, he collects fallen leaves.
He puts them together and jumps into them.
Then winter comes after fall.
He collects sticks and makes a fire.
Trees are his good friends all year long.
3. Pictures
Fun times come and go.
They happen once, but then they go away.
Sometimes, you want to remember those times.
How do you do that?
Take pictures with a camera!
Smile for the picture!
Say, "Cheese!"
Now, the fun times will not go away!
They will stay with you in pictures!
4. English is fun!

What happens when you fry chicken?
It becomes fried chicken.
What happens when you grill fish?
It becomes grilled fish.
What happens when you boil eggs?
They become boiled eggs.
What happens when you scramble eggs?
They become scrambled eggs.
Wow! English words can be a lot of fun!
5. Glasses
When Ashley wakes up, she can't see well.
Everything is cloudy.
When she looks at the clock, she can't see the time.
People can see her, but she can't see them.
What is wrong with her?
Oh wait! She forgot to put on her glasses.
Now she can see things well with them.
6. Vroom! Vroom!
Donald loves to ride in cars.
He can't drive yet. He is too young to drive.
But Donald likes to imagine!
He is in a car!
He is driving!
He is faster than anyone else!
Vroom! Vroom!
"Everybody watch out! Here I come!" he shouts.
Someday, Donald wants to be a famous car racer!
7. Sheila's family
I have a big family.
My brother's name is Jordan.
His dream is to become a policeman.
My sister's name is Jessica.
Her dream is to become a dentist.
I hope their dreams come true.
Oops! I almost forgot!
This is my puppy.
Its name is Snowball.
Snowball is our favorite pet.

8. Busy week
Mandy has a busy week!
Monday : practice piano
Tuesday : math test
Wednesday : soccer practice after school
Thursday : dentist appointment at 4pm
Friday : history test
Saturday : sleepover party at Amy's house
Sunday : church
Then, next Monday, she starts another busy week!
9. That was close
"Oh! No! I see a shark! It's coming towards me!" says Fred.
He is scared.
He starts to swim.
He looks behind him.
"Help! It's right behind me! AHHHHHHH!!!!!!" screams Fred.
Then something shakes him.
Fred hears a voice, "Fred, wake up! You are late!"
"Whew! It was a dream!" Fred says.
10. Let's draw!
Let's draw a face together.
Here are the eyes.
Now, the person can see.
Here is the nose.
Now, the person can smell.
Here is the mouth.
Now, the person can taste.
Here are the ears.
Now, the person can hear.
Look! What a fine drawing!
11. Scary day
Oh! There is a ghost!
It has three eyes.
Eek! There is a vampire!
He has sharp teeth.
Look! There is. witch!
She is holding a broom.
"Please help me!" says John.
Ha! Ha! Ha! They are laughing at him.
"John, today is Halloween!" says Tom.
"Where's your costume?" says Jessi.
12. Green salad for lunch
"We have green salad for lunch!" her mother says.
"Why not chocolate or ice cream?" Tina asks.
"They are not good for you!" her mother says.
"Is green salad good for me?" Tina asks.
"Yes! It tastes good, too!" her mother says.
Tina eats the green salad.
"It tastes good! I will have a green salad every day!" says Tina.
13. Who am I?
When I look out, I see the ocean, the mountains, and the sky.
I touch the soft and fluffy clouds.
I am going faster than anyone else!
Am I running? No, I am flying.
I am flying higher than anyone else!
Am I a bird? No!
Am I Superman? No!
Can you guess who I am?
I am an airplane!
14. Trip to the beach
Susie is going to the beach with her family.
She needs to pack her suitcase.
She opens her suitcase.
She packs her swimming suit.
She packs her sun cream.
She packs her towel.
She packs her sunglasses.
Did she pack everything?
Oh wait! She needs to pack her sandals!
Now, Susie is ready to go to the beach!
15. Shoo the mosquito!
Diana is trying to sleep.
BUZZ! BUZZ!
A mosquito flies by her ear.
She swings her hand and shoos it away.
It is quiet for a while.
But a mosquito flies by her ear again.
BUZZ! BUZZ!
She is annoyed. She turns on the light.
CLAP!
It is quiet now.
Whew! Now she can go to sleep.
