Sports Day
"Go, Lydia, go!" my friends cheered from the spectator stand. It was our school's annual Sports Day. I was representing my class in the 100-metre race.
Soon. it was time for the race to begin. I got ready on the starting line, along with other competitors. When the pistol went off, I took off, fast as a bullet.
Just as I was about to reach the finish line, I tripped and fell. Pain shot up my left leg, and I started to cry.
A voice asked in concern, "Are you all right?" I looked up. It was a fellow competitor. She gave me her hand and helped me up. "Thank you" I said. She helped me slowly across the finish line. I was very surprised and touched by her action. She could have chosen to ignore me and run on, and go on to win the first place as a result, but she did not. Although I did not win the race, I made a new friend that day.
